I could discuss the way in which computers evolved over time and became more accessible to the population as a whole with each evolution. I could discuss the way in which computers revolutionized commerce and created deeper connections between nations and their citizens. I could discuss the way in which the internet has transformed the way in which people view, create, and process information.
None of these topics will appear in this blog.
Instead i will focus the on agreeing with Heilbroner's view of soft technological determinism. As, Professor Kinzer and many of our professors remind us constantly, technology is a tool. Heilbroner is correct to acknowledge the influence of individuals on the development of technology. While others may be calling for the takeover of society by technology (see: Kurzweil's singularity) Heilbroner's view is accurate and believable.
